Palmers Cocoa Butter Review

palmers cocoa butter formula

Palmer’s is a pretty well known company when it comes to skin care products. They’ve got lotions and creams for nearly everything you can think of.

Perhaps their most popular items, though, are the ones designed for pregnancy. These include Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion, Tummy Butter, and a few others.

These products are specifically meant for the treatment and prevention of stretch marks during and after pregnancy.

Their stretch mark cream and tummy butter are among the best selling products on sites like Amazon and even in stores such as Walgreen’s.

Below we’ve provided a complete review of these lotions to help you figure out if they’ll work for you or not.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks

Palmer’s Lotion is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and completely free of parabens and phthalate. It is sold by the bottle and costs roughly $8 to $10 each, depending on where you purchase it from.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion For Stretch Marks, Pregnancy Skin Care, Belly Cream with Collagen, Elastin, Argan OIl and Shea Butter, 8.5 OuncesPalmer’s Tummy Butter is another very popular stretch mark lotion.

It shares a very similar formula as the massage lotion with a few added ingredients such as lavender and is recommended as a nighttime treatment.

It is about the same price as the lotion, too.

Palmer’s for Stretch Marks Online Reviews

As with every product we feature on our website, we always recommend checking out what other people are saying about it before buying it yourself.

Here are some of the reviews we found in these products (if the words appear too tiny to read, simply click the image to see it bigger):

I loved the lotion but then I used the tummy butter and that was a game changer!! It lasts longer so it’s great to use before bed and in the morning – I have noticed my skin feels less tight than with the lotion only (which is less sticky feeling and more natural). Could just be luck but I have no stretch marks yet at 32 weeks and I really believe the tummy butter is to thank. It is hard to use it in a way cuz it’s so stiff in the container but if u use manual force and break the surface tension it’s easier to apply. Hope this helps!

SHELL, AN AMAZON BUYER REVIEW

I have used many lotions and creams for pregnancy stretch marks- bio oil, udderly smooth, and more- & this combo pack of tummy butter and massage lotion works. It drastically reduces redness and smells really nice. Other lotions make my skin breakout or don’t last so my skin gets itchy. After using these two products together daily, I’ve noticed a reduction in redness, itchiness and my skin seems happier! I do combine these with bio oil, but have noticed a difference drastically when I started using these lotions in redness. Pregnant mamas with sensitive skin should give these a try!

E.F., AN AMAZON BUYER REVIEW

Even Palmer’s Stretch Mark Massage Lotion had its fair share of negative comments, though. Quite a few people state that the product simply does not work, even as a preventative measure. One woman claimed that she used the lotion 2-3 times a day throughout her pregnancy and still got nasty stretch marks once she hit the 30 week mark.

Our Review

Like most customers, we have rather mixed feelings about using Palmer’s for pregnancy-related stretch marks. While the product does seem to work for a number of people, it seems highly inconsistent and results are most definitely not guaranteed.

The formula works relatively well for moisturizing your skin, which is always a plus, but its effectiveness as a treatment for getting rid of already-present stretch marks is questionable.

While some claim it cleared up their marks, many more said it did nothing. It seems to us that Palmer’s is primarily designed to be a preventative solution, not an actual treatment for after-the-fact.

3.5 STARS WITH LOTS OF MIXED REVIEWS

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter

Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks

The online reviews are full of high AND low scores, honestly. But it’s an inexpensive way to try a moisturizer that relies heavily on the healing properties of cocoa butter.

Our testing was mixed, so we’ve put a 3.5 star rating on this one.

In our honest opinion, you’re more likely to see good results from using a product like TriLASTIN-SR or Revitol’s Stretch Mark Cream. If you’ve got a bit of money you don’t mind burning through you could even spring for alternative treatments such as laser surgery. Surgery is highly effective, works almost instantaneously, but it does have a hefty price tag attached.
